Where Should I Have My Wedding Reception? All Events General Party Tips

As a professional Disc Jockey for over 13 years, I have been to and played every kind of venue imaginable for a wedding reception. Every type of venue and situation can have it’s advantages and disadvantages and pros or cons. Here is a list based on my observations as an entertainment professional:

Catering Hall:

Food for cocktail hours tends to be a nice assortment, while main course tends to be the typical Prime Rib, Green Beans, and Potatoes.

Food preparation in many of these types of establishments is performed by minimally trained cooks that did not get formal school culinary training.
Catering halls tend to be flexible on the table arrangements, meal plan, and the other fine details.
Everyone is in the same room at the same time, making entertainment options easy to execute.


Inn Or Bed and Breakfast:

In my experience, Inns and Bed and Breakfast operations that provide wedding services offer some of the best food and cocktail hours, most of the time by culinary institute or professionally trained master chefs!
If the event is outdoors, this type of setup provides a charming setting. If indoors, this setup can be challenging for entertainment based on the cocktail hour/reception being spread across several rooms. May be tough getting the crowd to dance in this type of setup.
Guests can stay at the Inn/B&B after the wedding in a private room.


Hotel:

Hotels offer some nice wedding arrangements in their banquet rooms. I would rate the chefs in most hotels as better then your typical catering hall, and as good if not better then your Inn or B&B chef!

Flexible with the room sizes, room setup, and menu.
Your guests can crash at the end of the night in a room, and best of all, since you booked the event in the hotel, you and the guests are often entitled to a reduced party rate for your stay!


Backyard:

Often one of the most economical ways to have a wedding.
Offsite catering options are many.
Tent Rental is a must. Dance floors can also be rented.
A fun and enjoyable way to have a wedding in a familiar environment to you!

Last Christmas Party for Tallman Fire Department Party True Stories

Of all the crowds that we've played lately, The Tallman Fire Fighters and their loved ones were probably the ones that had the most fun "playing with fire". They danced all night to everything we played; top 40, Hip Hop and the Classics.

For some reason Firefighters just love songs with Fire in the title! Some of the songs that made them hop nonstop were Fire Burning by Sean Kingston, Fire by Ohio Players, The Roof is on Fire and The Fireman by George Strait. It must their own way to unwind of their hard and demanding work and we ended a fun-filled evening with Friends in Low Places by Garth Brooks.

They were so happy that they asked the DJ to play an extra hour…and we were only happy to comply. What a Great bunch!
